Bushido Karate is not a commercial club, even though we have our own building with a dedicated training facility and a 'store front'. Bushido Karate is solely owned and operated by Mr. Howard Crocker, and is governed by a group of students and parents, known as our committee. Sensei Crocker’s focus is on providing the best karate instruction available. Each class is planned out, with a spotlight on the message of each class. Every class demonstrates the traditional virtues of Bushido and teaches other contemporary qualities that we want to have in our dojo and in society. Observers of a class will notice that every student conducts himself or herself with proper manners and attitudes. This is because every class not only teaches to punch and kick, but it teaches students proper behaviour, not because the instructor preaches about these virtues, but because it is how they, and every student there, conducts themselves. Being honourable, courteous, respectful, focussed, and humble are just some of the qualities that we will focus on.

Our Students carry certification that is recognized all over the world. Bushido students are registered with the JAPAN KARATE FEDERATION - WADOKAI.  Students from the Brantford Bushido can go almost anywhere in the world and have their belt rank recognized. Bushido has sent students to Japan, as well as inviting instructors from Japan come to our dojo to instruct, on a regular basis. We are members in the Karate Assocation of Ontario, and Karate Canada. Karate Ontario (KAO) is the only sport-governing body for Karate in Ontario. Membership in Karate Ontario is the first measuring stick for people interested in learning karate; it ensures that the club is completely legitimate and that its instructors are actually certified. 

The Best Tuition Available. Howard Crocker has been teaching karate in Brantford since 1990.  He is recognized as one of the best coaches and instructors in the area.  He holds Level 3 in the National Coaching Certification Program. Furthermore, Bushido Karate is the only club in Brantford to have certified Karate coaches, and we have five nationally recognized coaches. Sensei Crocker is also certified by the JKF-Wadokai.

Our Students are International Standard not a local standard. Our students are measured by the Japan Karate Federation – with the headquarters in Tokyo-Japan, not watered down dojo standards. All of our Black-Belts are tested by ‘Japan Karate Federation-Wadokai’ approved grade-examiners - we will send our students to Japan or the examiners will travel here.  Bushido students are consistently in contact and training with students from all over Ontario, and the World. Our student’s technical skills are on par or superior to karate student of similar level anywhere. Yes – this makes it more of a challenge, and we do not ‘pass students to the next rank’ just to keep up enrolments. 

We don't charge extra for the little things. We have many fun free activities all year round. Pool Parties, bbq’s, Christmas parties (some schools actually charge you to come to their own parties!), and a lot more. We also offer low cost extras like our 3 day summer camp in July for about $100.00. We also arrange many extra curricular activities that you might pay at the door (they are not money-makers for us), like a swim-day, bowling, laser-tag, paintball, and an annual trip (like Canada’s Wonderland). In addition, we use a standardized grading (testing) program, whereby we have the traditional 10 kyu; Our belts are: White, White w/stripe, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Blue w/stripe, Brown, Brown w/stripe, Brown w/2-stripes, Black. Each of those gradings is $25 (paid as you grade). For all of your testings, from the time you start to BLACK BELT will be only $225 (9x$25). Some schools will charge increasing amounts as you go up through the ranks. While other schools have created additional stripes and tests in between to increase the number of gradings that you have to do! Some even use both strategies to increase their revenue!
