Meet our Instructors

All classes at Brantford Bushido are taught by NCCP certified Karate instructors (visit www.coach.ca to see why this is so important!)  Equally as important, our instructors are trained by some of the very best in the world.  Below each instructors' name is a list of influencing instructors who they have trained under.  We encourage new students to google the names of these karate instructors and masters so that you can see for yourself what makes our club different.  If you want to learn real karate which comes from a traceable lineage (family tree), then Bushido is the right club for you.  If you want to have a Black Belt which is recognized everywhere in the world, then we are the right club for you.  Our instructors meet the standards of Karate Ontario, Karate Canada, the World Karate Federation and the Japan Karate Federation.  These are the only bodies approved by the government and recognized sports federations.

The syllabus (or criteria) that we follow, teaches the traditional style of Wado-Ryu - with a focus on getting each move technically correct. Correct technique insures that the students' joints are protected during the movements. It also allows smaller people to defend themselves against larger opponents, as well as allowing larger people to maximize their force while moving quickly.

All of the instructors are trained to watch for proper execution of the technique, which contains several key elements. First the muscles must work in a very specific order, usually from largest to smallest. Next, all of the involved joints must fire in the correct order (as per the technique). Finally the body must start and stop in exactly the right position, with a concentration on having NO WASTED MOTION during movement. All of our instructors are trained to spot these things, and to ensure that all of our students are able to do this. This means that, not only will the students learn to move correctly, but they will learn to move safely. There should be no wear and tear on the body or the joints from doing karate! Good karate looks effortless yet powerful, and well supported throughout the body.  If see a beginner doing karate they look like they put all of their effort into their technique.  If you see an expert do karate, you still see the technique snap, but it looks like they have done it all of their life, and that they could do it all day long because it does not wear out their body.

This is what we strive for.  Perfect control of our mind and body.
