Why
Switch to Bushido Karate?
Bushido students are
registered with the JAPAN KARATE FEDERATION, with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan not some watered down dojo standards. They can go almost anywhere in the world
and have their belt rank recognized.
Sensei Howard Crocker is recognized as one of the best coaches and instructors in the area. He
holds Level 3 in the National Coaching Certification Program, has been a Karate
Ontario coach since 2004, and twice coached Canada at the JKF World Wado Cup. Furthermore,
Bushido Karate is the only club in Brantford to have certified Karate coaches,
and we have five nationally recognized coaches. Sensei Crocker is also
certified by the JKF-Wadokai.
Our facilities are world class. Our main training area is about 2200
sq. ft. We boast a full size 10 meter by 10 meter (1075 sq. ft.),
competition/safety mat that meets the World Karate Federation (www.wkf.net) competition safety standards. In addition we
have of beautiful dark hard-wood sprung floor, which is over 1000 sq. ft.
We have dozens of punching/kicking bags and shields, free standing bags, and
enough equipment to high-performance training. We have a fully stocked pro-shop that carries uniforms,
safety equipment, club t-shirts, books and videos.
All students test as soon as they are capable of passing. There are no politics or student preference. If you can move correctly to pass your rank, you move on right away. We use a standardized grading
(testing) program, whereby we have the traditional 8 kyu; Our belts are: White,
Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Blue w/stripe, Brown, Brown w/stripe, Black. Each of those
gradings is $25 (paid as you grade). For all of your testings, from the
time you start to BLACK BELT will be only $200 (8x$25). Some schools will
charge increasing amounts as you go up through the ranks. While other
schools have created additional stripes and tests in between to increase the
number of gradings that you have to do! Some even use both strategies to
increase their revenue!
In Wadokai karate, every question
has an answer. Whenever a student has a question about training, our Sensei
will be able to give a direct answer, and will never rely on “because I said so”
or “because it's traditional”. Every move you do will make sense.
We will recognize your belt earned
through another karate's discipline. You will be allowed to wear your belt on
the floor to train. You may be required to be retested, especially for higher
ranks, but you won't need to feel as if you are starting over. Most students
will continue in the kyu ranks from where they left off.
